I am the International Relations Major Coordinator for 2007 - 2010.
For Spring Term 2008 my office hours in 215 HRCB are Monday & Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
For more information about the major and its requirements follow this link to the David M. Kennedy Center's website.
Take a look at the IR Blog/Bulletin Board for up-to-date information on:
I am the internship coordinator for the IR major. I personally oversee only domestic (inside the US) internships. Internships in foreign countried have special requirements and must be coordinated through one of the intership programs run by the Kennedy Center. Please note that BYU does not allow internships with direct sales companies. This includes, "all positions in the direct sales industry: sales, marketing, managerial positions, etc."
An internship can, under the right circumstances, be counted as credit toward the IR major. This is usually as one course of the four in a student's chosen emphasis. For guidelines see this document.
An internship can also count as a capstone experience if it meets certain requirements. See this document for more details.
I am also the IR major honors coordinator. Generally speaking I do not advise IR honors theses directly. Students need to contact a faculty member in an appropriate discipline about being an advisor. The members of the IR Committee of the Whole are an excellent starting point. An honors thesis can also count as a capstone experience if it meets certain requirements.
BYU faculty on the International Relations Committee of the Whole are listed on the IR webpage on the David M. Kennedy Center's website.
